Students from Jigme Namgyel Engineering College (JNEC) visited the National Soil Services Centre as part of their industrial tour. This educational trip aimed to help the survey engineering students gain practical insights and connect their academic learning with real-world skills.

Upon arrival, they were welcomed by Program Director, who introduced the core functions of the center and highlighted the vital role of soil in agriculture and other disciplines.

The students attended a presentation by the Program Head of the Soil Survey Program on “Understanding Soil, its Importance, and Mapping the Soils of Bhutan.” The presentation covered soil composition, properties, and the significance of soil surveys in agriculture and other allied fields. It also explored the technologies used in soil surveys, including digital mapping techniques, and discussed Bhutan’s diverse soil types.

Following the presentation, the students participated in a Q & A session and then toured the soil museum, observing various soil profiles from across Bhutan. The tour concluded at the Soil and Plant Analytical Laboratory where they witnessed soil testing processes and learned about soil analysis methods.
