The staff of the National Soil Services Centre (NSSC) participated in a one-day sensitization program on the Agromet Decision Support System (ADSS) organized by the Agro-Meteorology Program under the Agriculture Research and Innovation Division (ARID) of the Department of Agriculture, Ministry of Agriculture & Livestock on September 30, 2024.
The main objective of the program was to make aware of ADSS, its components and functions. During the program, the staff were briefed on the significance of agrometeorology in enhancing the agrifood system of the nation and were engaged in an interactive demonstration session focused on the landing page of the ADSS and the Sanam Jabchor mobile application, which serves as a user-friendly platform for accessing agrometeorological information and advisories.
Discussions were also held on incorporating soil data such as soil temperature, texture, and moisture into the system in future to enhance the accuracy of agro advisories, enabling informed decisions based on a comprehensive understanding of both soil and weather conditions.
The NSSC would like to extend its heartfelt gratitude to the Agro-Meteorology Program for organizing this sensitization program and enhancing our staff’s understanding of the ADSS and its critical role in improving the agrifood system of Bhutan.
