From April 14 to 16, 2026, the National Soil Services Centre (NSSC) successfully conducted a three-days intensive training program in Tshonglajong,Trong Gewog, Zhemgang. The training focused on enhancingtechnical knowledge in soil health, fertility management, and sustainable agricultural practices.
The training covered several vital areas of soil science and organic technology, including:
- Soil Health & Fertility: Fundamental principles of maintaining productive land.
- Composting Technologies:Applications of both vermi – composting and heap composting for sustainable soil health and fertility.
- Effective Microorganism (EM) Technology: Utilizing microbial solutions to improve crop yields and soil quality.
A total of 14 participants attended the session, representing a diverse group:
- Nine Tarayana Foundation’s Sonam Jabchorpafrom Trongsa and Zhemgang Dzongkhags
- Two Tarayana Foundation’s Field Officer from Trongsa and Zhemgang Dzongkhags
- Three Local Farmers
The training program was organized by the Tarayana Foundation as part of the broader initiative: “Living Landscapes: Securing High Conservation Values (HCVs) in South-Western Bhutan”funded by the International Climate Initiative (IKI).
