As part of the project titled “Strengthening national-level institutional and professional capacities of country Parties towards enhanced UNCCD monitoring and reporting – GEF 7 EA Umbrella II”, a five-day training on Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN) Mapping and Monitoring was held from 01-05th May 2023 at the hotel Punakha Residency in Khuruthang, Punakha. The training was attended by 11 national experts from seven key stakeholders, namely National Statistical Bureau, National Land Commission Secretariat, National Centre for Hydrology Meteorology, Department of Geology and Mines, Department of Forests and Park Services, Department of Livestock and the National Soil Services Centre (NSSC). Ms. Ingrid Teich who is working as the SLM and LDN expert at the World Overview of Conservation Approaches and Technologies (WOCAT) housed at the University of Bern, Switzerland facilitated the training.
The training enabled the participants to get familiar with the PRAIS 4 virtual workshop results, know how to use the LDN Decision Support System (DSS) and use Google Earth Engine (GEE) and its Code Editor (Java Script).
The training was organised by the NSSC of the Department of Agriculture, Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock.
